Yotel expands in Europe with debut in Switzerland

Yotel is expanding its presence in Europe, with two new properties to be opened in Europe by June 2024.

The openings mark a significant milestone for the group, particularly as it introduces its first YotelPad to the European market.

The first of the two European properties to open its doors is Yotel Geneva Lake. The 237-property is equipped with the group’s signature technology and design features, including adjustable SmartBeds and sensory mood lighting. The new opening – comprising two interconnected glass buildings at different heights – has been designed to showcase expansive views at every turn. The hotel is also home to HVGGE Place, a 2,000m² dining and events space created in partnership with Caviar House Airport Premium-Switzerland, which comprises a Danish-inspired restaurant, rooftop, meeting facilities and an auditorium for events of up to 200 people.

Yotel Stratford

Later in the year, the first YotelPad to land in Europe will open its doors in London in June 2024. The launch of YotelPad London Stratford will see the aparthotel brand offering 62 ‘pads’ with multi-functional live, work and sleep areas. Additional facilities will include Yotel’s signature Mission Control check-in area, Grab & Go snack station, as well as a retail space. Sustainable initiatives across the property are set to include occupancy sensors in the rooms and corridors to control lighting, air source heat pumps for hot water, MVHR ventilation system and heat recovery, and solar panels. The building incorporates green roofs to absorb rainfall, reducing runoff, along with bird and bat boxes to support biodiversity efforts in the area.

“We are thrilled to announce the openings of two exceptional hotels, a significant step forward in our growth strategy in Europe,” says Rohan Thakkar, Chief Development Officer at Yotel. “Yotel Geneva Lake, our inaugural property in Switzerland, marks the beginning of our expansion efforts in the country, where we recognise substantial potential in key markets like Zurich and Basel. The introduction of our first YotelPad in London and Europe couldn’t come at a better time, especially considering the rising demand for office conversions. Leveraging the strength of the extended stay model in today’s environment, YotelPad serves as an ideal solution. The brand enables us to enhance our presence in existing markets and explore opportunities for dual-branded hotels, akin to our successful model in Miami.”
