Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is opening a hotel in France’s Yvelines region, minutes from the Palace of Versailles.

Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel will open its doors in December 2023, comprising 178 rooms, two restaurants, a bar and a conference centre amidst 14-hectare gardens.

Once owned by the Oberkampf-Mallet family, the hotel’s building has been fully renovated by 2BDM Architects, which specialises in preserving historic buildings, monuments and gardens. The hotel’s interior design and scenography meanwhile have been led by Flamant Interior Design, while Frank Neau is responsible for the exterior architecture and gardens.

As part of the restoration of the Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel, 2BDM Architects reinstated the guestrooms’ Toiles de Jouy print. A nod to the location’s history, the printed canvas was first manufactured by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf in the very town where the hotel finds home.

Other striking design features across the hotel include ‘Long Term Parking’ by Arman, a sculpture of 59 cars encased in concrete that forms an 18-metre tower, and ‘Hommage à Eiffel’ by César, a three-metre-high plaque made from pieces of the Eiffel Tower.

As well as F&B and business amenities, the hotel will offer a range of wellness experiences at the Spa du Moncel by Sothys, including a heated indoor and outdoor pool, sensory shower, snow cave, sauna, fitness room and seven treatment rooms.

“Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel is a fantastic representation of our Dolce by Wyndham brand, which is recognised as a leader in the groups and meetings space as well as for its superior cuisine and thoughtful amenities,” says Jackie Brown, Regional Director – North & West Europe, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “This outstanding opening in France supports our mission to bring accommodation to destinations where travellers want to be.”

Olivier Bigot, General Manager of the hotel, adds: “The history of Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel can be traced back to the 18th century, and each room has been authentically redesigned to celebrate and reflect the French heritage of the estate.”
