Wyndham announces first Indian signing
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is set to mark its Indian debut in early 2024, having announced the signing of The Earth Amritsar.
The hotel will comprise two buildings, set within five-acre grounds in the heart of Amritsar. The first building, initially built to commemorate the 55th year of Queen Victoria’s reign, holds an impressive 130-year-old heritage. The second property is a newbuild, which will offer further accommodation to guests in a more modern space.
Across the two properties, guests will find 57 contemporary suites, as well as a fitness centre, outdoor pool and two restaurants. One will give guests the chance to dine in the open air, while the other will provide all-day-dining opportunities. Adding to the experience will be a luxe whisky lounge, where guests will have the choice to sip on a range of sophisticated beverages.
Though bursting with modern amenities, the site will not neglect the rich history of the location. Finding its home in a culturally abundant setting, the hotel will lean into Amritsar’s heritage.
“We see strong potential for the brand in India as it caters to midscale and upscale hoteliers seeking independence while leveraging competitive advantages that come with the scale of a partner such as Wyndham”, says Nikhil Sharma, Regional Director for Wyndham. “We look forward to furthering the brand’s presence in the country.”
Vivek Shah, Director of Earth Suites & Resorts, comments: “The Earth Amritsar, Trademark Collection by Wyndham reflects our fruitful collaboration with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and we are looking forward to being the first to bring one of the Company’s most popular brands to this spiritual city.”
