Williamsburg Hotel opens in Brooklyn

The Williamsburg Hotel has opened its doors in the heart of Brooklyn. Located at the corner of Wythe Ave and North 10th St., the eight-story, 150-guestroom Heritage Equity Partners development strikes a balance between service and style, and ties it all together with an homage to the neighbourhood’s rich industrial history.

The hotel is designed by Michaelis Boyd and references the neighbourhood’s industrial past through the use of brick, glass and Corten steel in its construction. An entrance through cascading stairs leads to a soaring bar, where street artist Eric Rieger has strung thousands of strands of multicoloured yarn to form a striking art installation. Additional design highlights include custom toile-inspired wallpaper designed by Beastie Boy Mike D.

Guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with Manhattan, Brooklyn and East River views, while design schemes vary from whitewashed timber walls to deep grey distressed finishes with bespoke leather, brass and marble details.

Toby Moskovits, CEO of Heritage Equity Partners, comments: “Our goal was to create a hotel that embodies Williamsburg. I grew up here and Brooklyn is in my DNA, so it was important to construct a hotel not only for guests, but also for the neighbourhood. We wanted to bring a bit of elegance to Brooklyn, while still being warm and welcoming.”

Further details include staff dressed in custom uniforms created by design duo Ovadia & Sons, and an in-house Tea Director leading the property’s Afternoon Tea offerings. Elsewhere, bathroom amenities are handmade in Brooklyn by Apotheke, again reinforcing the local aspect of the property.

Dining facilities include the newly opened Harvey, a grain and vegetable-focused restaurant by Chef Adam Leonti that will focus on freshly milled grains for pastas, breads and pastries.

Later this year, a rooftop pool and three distinct bars including a private bar for hotel guests, a subterranean lounge, and a replica water tower bar honouring the area’s wooden water tower factory will open. Meanwhile, the neighbourhood’s first grand ballroom with soaring 30-foot ceilings will accommodate up to 400 guests for events, galas, and weddings.
