The Isle of Skye has welcomed a new addition to its hospitality landscape. Wilderness hotel The Bracken Hide, an accommodation concept focused entirely on the environment, comprises 27 en-suite cabins arranged in clusters around the 53 acre site.

The Bracken Hide has been designed to mimic a blade that appears to have been uprooted from the landscape, with the interiors also reflecting the palette and textures that surround it. The Hub, the hotel’s focal point, houses the hotel’s restaurant, whisky bar, lounge, and screening and games rooms, while a pair of Nordic saunas and a plunge pool pond can be found adjacent to it.

Despite their unusual exteriors, the cabins, all clad in sustainable timber and with views across Loch Portree, offer the trappings of a traditional hotel room, with the likes of underfloor heating and en-suite smart shower rooms.

Designed by West Port Architects, the hotel’s restaurant Fraser’s boasts large landscape views to accompany a selection of local produce. Nearby, also in The Hub, a whiskey room, with its sunken bar, offers a menu of Highland and Japanese beverages.

The new opening is the brainchild of Miranda and Charlie Garton-Jones, the team behind Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse, also located on the Isle of Skye.
