Waldorf Astoria opens in Beverly Hills
Waldorf Astoria has announced the opening of a 170-key property in Beverly Hills, adding to the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica.
Adjacent to The Beverly Hilton, the 12-storey development is the Waldorf Astoria’s first newbuild on the west coast and second in California.
The hotels’ 119 deluxe rooms and 51 suites are part of an Art Deco-influenced scheme created by interior design firm Pierre-Yves Rochon, inspired by the contemporary interpretation of Hollywood glamour and streamline moderne style of the 1930s and 40s.
Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and oversized balconies, the guestrooms offer vistas ranging from a bird’s eye view of the Hollywood Hills to the nearby urban centre of Century City, while private garden terraces on the third level allow for 360-degree views of the city.
In the public spaces, a triple-height lobby and contemporary design comprises hand-painted murals, custom crystal chandeliers and Lalique installations along with upholstered furniture in tones of celadon, taupe and white.
Meeting spaces of accompany three dining venues created by French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, with Executive Chef Steve Benjamin of L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon amongst the culinary experts.
The exterior architecture of the property features a collaboration between PYR, Perkins+Will, and Gensler that cohesively supports the building’s interiors in its design.
“As the prime architect and masterplanner for the site and the hotel, Gensler has worked together with Oasis West Realty, Hilton, and PYR to create a world-class urban resort and gateway to Beverly Hills, unlike any other luxury property in South California,” comments Andy Cohen, Co-CEO at Gensler.
The resort follows the opening of a number of luxury hotels located close to Rodeo Drive and the Beverly Hills shopping mecca, including Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire, Viceroy L’Ermitage and Montage Beverly Hills.
John T.A. Vanderslice, global head, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, adds: “Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills matches our brand’s commitment to offering unforgettable experiences, first-class accommodations, and True Waldorf Service in the world’s most sought after destinations.”
