Waldorf Astoria Berlin opens its doors

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin sits within the spectacular new Zoofenster skyscraper, designed by German architect Professor Christoph Mäckler. At 118m tall and boasting a total of 32 floors, the building is the latest design-conscious addition to the skyline of Berlin’s City West.

The 232 roomed hotel’s interior design has been conceived by the Parisian agency Inter Art Etudes, and features a timeless yet contemporary interpretation of art deco style.

John Vanderslice, Global Head of Luxury and Lifestyle Brands for Hilton Worldwide, said, the move was indicative of the brand’s success across the continent. “We’ve experienced unprecedented levels of luxury growth in Europe lately, with five unique Waldorf Astoria hotels now welcoming guests across Europe,” he confirmed.

Simon Vincent, president, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide said: “We are privileged to be playing such a critical role in the regeneration of West Berlin through the opening of this magnificent property.”

The property is home to “Les Solistes by Pierre Gagnaire” – the latest restaurant to be run by renowned Michelin-starred French chef Pierre Gagnaire. In addition, the famous Romanisches Café is set to reopen on the ground floor of the hotel, just a stones throw from where it was first located around 100 years ago. A New York-styled Lang Bar and an elegant tea room complete the hotel’s food and beverage options.

Additional public areas include the Guerlain beauty spa with eight therapy rooms each individually designed to complement the delivery of a variety of treatments, extensive meeting space, a 3,550 square foot ballroom perfect for extravagant weddings and a sixth floor terrace overlooking the city.

The addition of The Waldorf Astoria Berlin to Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio means the group now operates 18 hotels in Germany across four brands.
