Vipp has created its first guesthouse outside of Scandinavia, in collaboration with local design consultancy Bau Studio. The seventh of Vipp’s guesthouses, Casa Vipp, Andora finds home in a Borda, a traditional stone house found in the Andorran mountain region.

Historically used to store grains or cattle, the building – which sits in the heart of the Pyrenees mountains and of Andorra la Vella’s old town – is now welcoming guests in a contemporary home-away-from-home setting. The lodge-style interiors are fitted with a serene Scandinavian design sensibility, brought forth by the Vipp collection.

Unfolding on the first floor of the 100m² two-storey duplex is an open kitchen connected to a dining room, living room with a fireplace and a small balcony. Ascending the custom metal staircase, guests come to the bedroom and bathroom, which houses an open shower and a freestanding bathtub. Looking outwards from porthole windows, guests will find wide-spanning valleys and peaks.

“Instead of designing one destination with several rooms, we offer several destinations with just one room,” explains Kasper Egelund, CEO of Vipp, on the subject of Vipp’s guesthouse concepts. “While each place explores various architectural archetypes and carries unique identities, the common denominator is a carefully curated aesthetic where the V1 kitchen and furniture collection from Vipp are repeated.”

A Danish, family-owned company, Vipp was founded in 1939 by metalsmith Holger Nielsen, and has since grown to provide not only design objects, but settings in which these objects can be enjoyed.
