VIDEO: Martin Brudnizki discusses The Beekman
In the build up to the inaugural AHEAD Americas programme on 28 June, interior designer Martin Brudnizki has discussed with Dezeen his work on the Beekman Hotel in New York, a project shortlisted in both the Bar, Club or Lounge and Lobby and Public Spaces categories.
Converting the 19th-century office building into a 287-key hotel, Brudnizki’s interiors incorporate vintage fabrics and furnishings to create a homely ambience. An extensive spectrum of green throughout seeks to close the vast space of the nine-storey atrium, whilst an eclectic mix of vintage rugs and cushions from the 1940’s roots the project firmly in its own history.
Taking place at Herzog & de Meuron’s Perez Art Museum Miami, AHEAD Americas will celebrate the best of hotel design and guest experience throughout the region.
An esteemed judging panel, representing all dimensions of the industry and chaired by Larry Traxler, Senior Vice President, Global Design Services – Hilton Worldwide, has judged the shortlisted projects based on both commercial and creative merits, with the eventual winners going on to compete in AHEAD’s global biennale in 2019.
