Updown Farmhouse launches new guestrooms in converted stables

Countryside hotel Updown Farmhouse has announced the launch of The Stables, four new guestrooms set in its original stable block.

The new offer is tucked away in a secluded corner of the property’s sprawling gardens. Rooms have been restored to preserve the character and charm of the original building, keeping the high ceilings and wooden structure from the 17th century. Some are fronted by floor-to-ceiling glass doors, which open out onto their own terrace, allowing direct access to the surrounding woodland.

Interior design will showcase a similar design language to the rest of the property. Artwork meanwhile has been carefully curated with a mix of pieces from the family of co-founder Oli Brown, interspersed with pieces from the family’s private collection assembled over the last half century.

Updown Farmhouse is a hotel and restaurant, housed in a former farm, that has been restored to offer sanctuary amidst the Kent countryside. “We’ve been slowly working on restoring Updown Farmhouse over the past few years and the launch of The Stables will allow us to welcome even more guests to enjoy the magic of Updown,” say Brown and co-founder Ruth Leigh. “With such a rich history as a working farm, we felt it was only natural to restore The Stables to its former glory. We’re looking forward to being able to make even more use of the beautiful grounds with the development of a swimming pool and spa facilities.”
