Situated on one of the most exclusive Caribbean Islands, the five-star boutique Tropical Hotel St. Barth has unveiled a complete redesign for 2022.
Interior designer Oscar Ono has reimagined the hotel’s rooms, public areas and F&B spaces, drawing on references from the French Riviera and the mid-century architecture of Palm Springs. The result is a playful, immersive design that cleverly plays with colour and nature to form a cocooning tropical oasis.
The property is centred around one main patio, with a series of verandas typical of Caribbean architecture connecting the different spaces.
Spread over two levels, the 24 guestrooms and suites, adjoined by private terraces, offer an idyllic vista over the turquoise Caribbean Sea or views of the tropical garden.
The hotel’s restaurant features a vibrant mural painted by Raphael Schmitt, depicting various species of local plants and colourful botanical references. The eatery has been divided in different spaces, but retains an open and airy atmosphere, thanks to its high ceilings. A wood-panelled bar is surrounded by plush seating, while tropical fabrics in shades of pink, blue and green breathe life into the space.
