Tristan Auer designs Parisian flagship for Experimental Group

Experimental Group has announced that its latest property, Hotel Experimental Marais, will open its doors in March 2025.

The group returns to its Parisian roots with the launch of its flagship property, located in the Haut Marais district. Hotel Experimental Marais marks the group’s third Parisian hotel, accompanying Grand Pigalle Experimental and Grand Boulevards Experimental.

Interior designer Tristan Auer has been enlisted to transform the property, which was acquired in October 2024, into a 43-room hotel. Auer has crafted neo-Gothic interiors inspired by the history and cultural heritage of the Marais, featuring grand arches, stained glass windows, bold architectural lines and intimate spaces.

Guiding his reimagination, the designer envisioned a fictional character, a curious and adventurous traveller who explores the world while savouring every moment. The property’s spacious restaurant, Temple & Chapon, is decorated with this traveller’s collection of drawings and photographs. Brought to life in collaboration with artist Clovis Retif, the 100-seat venue is inspired by the classic New York chophouses of the 1950s, set in a striking cathedral-like space with a glass ceiling.

The hotel is also home to spa, developed in partnership with natural skincare brand Susanne Kaufmann and offering a range of treatments alongside a swimming pool.
