Tribe hotel at Manchester Airport in England, UK

Tribe hotel set to land at Manchester Airport

Accor has announced the signing of a Tribe hotel at Manchester Airport, in partnership with H3 Hotels SARL. Set to open in 2022 as part of the wider £1 billion Airport City development – which will include offices, a hotel district, manufacturing, logistics facilities and retail space – the new 12,300mproject will become the first Tribe property in England and second in the UK.

Located 400m away from Terminal 2 and served by a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the M56 motorway, the nine-storey building will comprise 412 guestrooms and suites, four F&B areas, co-working spaces, a gym and a crew lounge for airline staff travelling through Manchester – the UK’s third busiest airport.

“The UK remains a priority long-term global market for development, investment, travel, business and tourism, and this development reflects that,” says Thomas Dubaere, COO Accor Northern Europe. “The signing of our second Tribe extends our lifestyle brand pipeline in the UK and offers greater opportunities for guests to experience the exceptional service and design culture that Accor offers.”

Jonathan Haigh, Managing Director, MAG Property, and development leader for Airport City Manchester, adds: “We are delighted Accor has chosen our scheme for its largest Tribe to date. It’s an exciting new brand to this market and will be extremely well received by guests, not only airport users for whom it is exceptionally well located for terminal access, but also for the business occupiers of Airport City Manchester and wider region who will benefit from enhanced amenity. We advance to the development activity and future opening with great enthusiasm.”

Dexter Moren, Partner at Dexter Moren Associates, the London-based architectural firm tasked with designing the hotel, comments: “We are delighted to be working with H3 Hotels SARL, Accor and MAG to deliver a landmark building establishing a new gateway to Manchester Airport. The design for Tribe Manchester aims to give the hotel a distinct urban identity within the Airport City Manchester masterplan, bringing a youthful energy with bold colour, contemporary architecture and materials.”

Tribe, which first launched in Perth, Australia thanks to the vision of founders Mark and Melissa Peters, plans to open more than 150 properties worldwide over the next five years, including new sites in key destinations such as Amsterdam, Dubai, Hong Kong, New York and London.
