The port city of Hamburg in Northern Germany is set to ramp up its hospitality offering over the coming years, with an influx of hotels – from design-led boutiques to tried and tested brands – expected to make their entry into its burgeoning tourism scene, bringing new experiences to the banks of the Elbe river.

Tophotelprojects currently has 33 projects, totalling 5,750 rooms, listed in its database in planning or under construction. According to the data service, four (12%) will be opening this year, ten (30%) are planned for 2023, seven (21%) are on track for completion in 2024, and 12 (37%) are scheduled for 2025 and beyond.

Amongst the properties in the pipeline are a Nobu hotel located within the city’s mixed-use Elbtower development, as well as two properties for Novotel and Residence Inn by Marriott respectively, and the debut of the Reverb by Hard Rock brand within St.Pauli Bunker, one of Hamburg’s few preserved high-rise bunkers.

Featured below are just a few of the key developments in progress across the historic city as it looks to the future with promise.
