The thermal baths, known locally as Tamina Therme, will complement the medical and spa facilities available at Bad Ragaz, one of Switzerland’s leading health retreats.

Spring 2009 sees the culmination of a €100 million refurbishment of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz Spa. The thermal baths as well as the building shell of the medical centre have been designed by Smolenicky&Partner Architecture, Zurich. The Spa Hotel is based on a project by Munich architects Hilmer&Sattler. Swiss designers Carbone GmbH are responsible for the interior architecture. Burckhardt+Partner Berne is general planner for the Tamina Thermal Baths, Spa Hotel and Medical Centre.

Housed over 7,300 square metres, the Tamina Therme is a contemporary building designed with guest comfort and relaxation in mind. The Tamina Therme will offer an array of facilities including a pure water 35°C indoor swimming pool, indoor sports pool, hot and cold grotto, whirlpool, hot tubs, steam baths, outdoor swimming pool, waterfall, saunas, relaxation areas, massage and beauty treatments, a healthy eating restaurant and boutique.

Design features include grand twelve metre arches and floor to ceiling oval windows. An extensive amount of glass and shades of soft whites, blues and blacks have been used together.

The pure water at Tamina Therme is piped from the nearby Tamina Gorge, Europe’s largest naturally occurring acrothermal spring.

Grand Resort Bad Ragaz comprises two five star hotels, the To B. Wellbeing & Spa which offers 5,500 square metres of luxury space dedicated to beauty and wellness, a Medical Health Centre, a Business & Events Center, two Golf courses and a Casino.
