Theatro network has announced the completion of the renovation and expansion of five-star hotel, Bianca Relais.
Located in Oggiono on the shores of Lake Annone, Bianca Relais is the first five-star hotel in the province of Lecco, Italy. The radical refurbishment has resulted in the creation of: 10 rooms – including eight suites – the Bianca sul Lago restaurant and the Drop bistro.
The renovation project was conceived by designer Giuseppe Manzoni and architects Rita Consonni and Carlotta Manzoni. Engineer Alberto Invernizzi assisted with concerns regarding the structural aspects of the project.
The boutique hotel’s new image emphasises the view of the lake and surrounding greenery by creating large, glazed facades and a large sinuous terrace on the main front which recalls the coves of the lake shores.
The project designers say: “The philosophy behind the hotel renovation project stems from a series of emotions, including personal ones, from the desire to recover childhood memories and the history of many citizens of Oggiono, to retrieve the cultural and humanistic traditions of the area, to re-propose the shapes of the projecting elements of the new building which nature has conquered over the years, to resume in the project the shape of the natural elements strongly present in the area, to enhance the scenarios and the panorama which the environment provides and to offer the possibility of enjoying a unique charm.”
The designers relied on partners from the Theatro network for effective solutions and aesthetic coherence with the project.
Thema and Schuco were chosen for the large sliding windows overlooking the lake and all the window and door fixtures due to their high thermal and acoustic insulation. Valli&Valli supplied handles, while Schneider Electric provided the building automation system.
Thema also designed the glass railings in the guestrooms and restaurant with integrated LED lighting. Assa Abloy created a fully transparent, revolving motorised entrance door with curved glass, contributing to the sensation of lightness of the whole structure and the safety Semi-Transparent double and four-wing doors with SL500 automation. Meanwhile, AGC created the extra-clear glass used for the railings which alternate with the Corten hand-forged elements with a slender shape which recalls a thicket of reeds.
Elsewhere, Resstende made the two-layer curled and motorised room curtains – both filtering and blackout – and the external Ress Flex 01 blinds. In the guestroom en-suite bathrooms, the finish by Florim creates a path towards the Starpool private steam room with its steam bath and its sensory paths.
The designers add: “Just as the designer has the task of reassuring and guiding the client, so suppliers and companies carry out the same role for designers. The architect naturally selects his/her partners: agile interlocutors who, together with him/her, want to raise the bar as the will to grow is always a joint operation and complicity is a trust mechanism which favours experimentation. Experience then helps to recognise a partner who really wants to get involved in projects.”
