The St. Regis Hong Kong opens its doors
Marriott International has announced the opening of The St. Regis Hong Kong – the brand’s debut property in the destination. Located in the district of Wan Chai, close to the Golden Bauhinia Square, Admiralty, Lan Kwai Fong and Victoria Peak, the new hotel will feature interiors by André Fu, as well as two specialty restaurants helmed by celebrated chefs.
An ode to the cultural diversity of Hong Kong, the property is described as a curated mansion which has been realised through the lens of Fu. Design elements throughout combine classic luxury with modern sophistication, incorporating signature details that pay homage to the city’s heritage.
“Hong Kong has always been one of the most attractive destinations for global luxury travelers, and the St. Regis brand is synonymous with timeless luxury and impeccable standards of hospitality,” says Henry Lee, Chief Operations Officer and Managing Director, Greater China, Marriott International. “We are very glad to add The St. Regis Hong Kong to Marriott International’s strong luxury portfolio in the market. The St. Regis Hong Kong represents the very best of the St. Regis brand, with its distinctive design, exquisite fine dining and truly exceptional service.”
The 27-storey property comprises 129 guestrooms and suites, each of which features wood flooring and accents infused with understated Asian sensibility, deep bathtubs and generous windows with views of the harbour and city. The hotel is also home to a heated swimming pool and poolside bar, as well as a health club with a spa treatment room.
Guests will also have access to the St. Regis Butler Service; a personalised, round-the-clock service that includes private in-room check-in, unpacking and packing, beverage service and garment pressing. A first for the brand, The St. Regis Hong Kong butlers will be contactable via eButler chat on the Marriott Mobile App, 24 hours a day.
On the menu are two dining concepts: L’Envol and Rùn, each spearheaded by famed chefs. At L’Envol, chef Olivier Elzer – who has accrued a remarkable 18 Michelin stars throughout his career to date – serves French Haute cuisine, while the hotel’s signature Cantonese restaurant, Rùn, is led by Hung Chi-Kwong. Celebrated for his contemporary interpretations of Cantonese cuisine, Chi-Kwong’s venue will plate up innovative takes on traditional Cantonese fare.
Elsewhere, The Drawing Room is an all-day eatery with views of the terrace, while The St. Regis Bar serves after-hours digestifs against a backdrop of live jazz performances, offering a selection of bespoke cocktails as well as an extensive wine list featuring more than 800 wine labels and 100 champagnes. The signature St. Regis cocktail, the Bloody Mary, has been given a contemporary twist using a mix of Cantonese ingredients including dried tangerine peel, five spice and Kowloon soy sauce, and reintroduced as the Canto Mary.
Completing the hotel is approximately 12,000ft² of event space across five venues, including conference facilities, reception venues and pre-function spaces. The Astor Ballroom, with its cathedral high ceiling design, can cater to grand-scale events; while the Rockefeller Room is a versatile space for corporate meetings or more intimate gatherings.
