The Ritz-Carlton lands in Koh Samui

YTL Hotels has introduced The Ritz Carlton to Koh Samui, marking the brand’s debut on the eastern coast of Thailand.

With 175 suites and pool villas, nestled amid 58 acres, the resort is built on the site of a former coconut plantation, comprising contemporary architecture that pays homage to its past with the use of coconut and other natural materials.

Facilities include a 3,800m2 spa village, featuring eight treatment suites, three massage pavilions, a yoga pavilion, health bar, and a lap pool with cabanas. Unique to this property, The Songkran Shower is included as a prelude to selected spa treatments, a pre-spa ritual inspired by Thailand’s annual Songkran festival.

The resort’s culinary offerings reflect flavours synonymous with southern Thai soul food, with seven venues including Shook!, an interactive dining space serving Asian and western dishes; The Peak, an elevated restaurant with ocean vistas; and Baan Talat, an outdoor food market with street food stalls, cultural dances and crafts.

Additional facilities include a swim reef for snorkelling and fish-feeding experiences, two private beaches, a beachside resort pool, a water sports centre and two floodlit tennis courts. The Ritz-Carlton also offers authentic southern Thai experiences including a Muay Thai gym and cooking classes, while Sala Thai, catering for weddings, features a pavilion overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.

Dato’ Mark Yeoh, Executive Director of YTL Hotels, comments: “The Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui marks another milestone of our strong partnership with Marriott International. With the opening of this resort, our portfolio together with Marriott International now encompasses nine properties across Asia-Pacific and Europe.”

The new opening adds to YTL Hotels’ current footprint in Thailand, which includes The Surin Phuket, a member of Design Hotels, and the Eastern & Oriental Express train which travels from Singapore to Thailand.
