The Pilgrm set for London
The Pilgrm, a new venture from long-time collaborators Jason Catifeoglou, Andreas Thrasyvoulou and Steph Thrasyvoulou, is slated to open in Paddington’s Norfolk Square in November.
The property is a considered reinterpretation of a traditional hotel, with a newly thought out iteration of hospitality that redefines the long-established parameters by transforming selected elements and services.
Housed in restored Victorian buildings, the hotel comprises 73 guestrooms, a ground floor neighbourhood café, and first floor lounge. Guestrooms feature Samsung television sets, high-speed Wi-Fi, Marshall speakers, 100% organic cotton mattress, Egyptian cotton sheets and towels, and bespoke natural toiletries. A selection of books, magazines, plants and unique artwork by Keith Cunningham, Jo Bondy and Lydia Makin highlights The Pilgrm’s point of difference, while 24hr communal pantries feature in lieu of minibars or room service.
The multimillion pound refurbishment is being carried out by 93, a dedicated architectural design and brand team who are deeply passionate about preserving and restoring as many of the building’s original inner and outer Victorian features as possible, bringing them back to life through both creative and artisanal measures.
The original Victorian architectural designs, including a timber staircase and cast iron balustrades, have been restored and feature alongside a mix of reclaimed and restored furniture and fittings throughout the property. Guestrooms comprise Tom Dixon cloud carpets; Wails in place of traditional wardrobes, an original design by The Pilgrm’s interior design team; and 200-year-old reclaimed parquet flooring.
The ground floor cafe serves as a welcome area for the hotel, and will also function as a typical neighbourhood coffee shop serving quality coffee, teas and pastries. The full check-in process is carried out via the hotel’s website, and a 24-hour host is located in the cafe to assign room keys.
The first-floor lounge will feature the drawing room, accommodating approximately 30 covers and an open kitchen and bar. Head Chef Sara Lewis has curated a menu that introduces plates and drinks from around the world including Korean dishes like Kimchi rice.
The cocktail offering is a collaboration with best cocktail bars from around the world, featuring drinks exclusively loaned to The Pilgrm, but made in London. Featured bars include: The Midnight Rambler in Dallas, USA; The Clumsies in Athens, Greece; Operation Dagger in Singapore; Bar Trench in Tokyo, Japan; Jerry Thomas Project in Rome, Italy; and Bar Termini in London. The cocktails are pre-mixed and presented in specially crafted glass bottles.
