Further to its acquisition and major refurbishment of the old Harrington Hall Hotel in South Kensington, lifestyle brand The Other House has revealed further details on its debut opening, including a first look at its innovative Club Flats. Launching in Spring 2022, the property promises to combine an elegant design with a decidedly clubby feel to attract a new generation of long and short-term guests to Southwest London.
Blurring the lines to create a new type of accommodation, The Other House will disrupt the traditional sectors of hotels, serviced apartments and private rentals, positioning itself as a second home – or other house – for its residents, whatever their length of stay. As such, The Other House South Kensington will comprise 200 fully-fitted Club Flats that will act as a focal point from which guests can relax or explore the British capital.
Designed by interiors studio Bergman, the brand’s first flag will exude its very own distinct character and identity. Elevating the traditional long-stay and serviced apartment models, the development will combine apartments with a private club exclusively for residents and members housing two bars, a spa and a fitness studio. For locals, there will be bold public spaces including a destination bar and all-day dining bistro.
Split into eight categories – Club Town, Club Garden, Club Courtyard, Club Mezz, Club Class, Club Vault, Club Turret and Club Access – the Club Flats range from 258-581ft² as well as two-, three- and four-bedroom options. The spaces also revolve around the living area – rather than the bedroom – just as it does at home.
In addition, The Other House app will offer personalisation and control through on-demand access to hotel-style services. The app enables residents to manage their entire stay and experience, from booking, checking-in, room entry and controls to room cleaning, laundry, beauty treatments, restaurant and bar bookings.
For long-stay guests, the opening will offer a new alternative to renting that combines flexibility with round the clock security and hotel-style services. With stays bookable from a day to a week to a month or year, The Other House is an ideal solution for those looking for a city base. And services such as clothes and luggage storage between trips caters to guests looking for a regular London pied-à-terre a few days each week.
The launch of the forward-thinking concept in South Kensington will be followed by openings in other ‘villages’ throughout Central London, including Covent Garden by 2023, before rolling out internationally.
After eight years of planning, The Other House’s Co-Owner and CEO Naomi Heaton is confident the brand will have an impact on the capital with its forthcoming properties. “The Other House caters to consumers looking for flexibility, style and greater personalisation and who embrace responsibility and slow travel. Our mission is to create spaces and use technology to enhance the overall guest experience and completely reinvent how people stay, providing a renewed sense of space, place, ownership and engagement.”
“And for our longer stay residents, we are delighted to be launching a service not previously seen in the UK market, and at a time when consumers are making conscious decisions about how they want to live.”
Heaton continues: “The concept paves the way for a new era of smart travellers. We are a meeting place, chill-out space, a hotel and second home. Our guests could be here on business, for leisure, to study or just dropping by for a drink. Each are on different journeys but they all know where they want to be.”
