The Ocean Club, a Luxury Collection Resort in the popular tourist destination of Sosúa on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, has set a March 2021 opening date.
Each of the property’s 68 apartments will feature a Caribbean-inspired design, while the one- to three-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom penthouses all have beach and ocean views as well as private indoor and outdoor areas. The apartments can also be rented for a longer-term stay or bought as a second home.
The opening of the resort is accompanied by two sustainability projects in order to strengthen ecological development in the region. In collaboration with the non-profit organisation, Global Coralition, an underwater museum is to be built off the coast in the coming years. This should not only serve as a new attraction for tourists and divers, but also create a marine habitat for sea creatures and corals.
The “Reef Project” with the Maguá Ecological Foundation will also be implemented, which aims to increase the biological diversity of the area through the development of ecosystems such as coral reefs and mangroves.
Joining Marriott International’s Distinctive Luxury portfolio, the property will not only upgrade the hotel offering in the region but also strengthen the country’s economy with the creation of new jobs.
