The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam Guestroom

The Hoxton announces second Amsterdam opening

The Hoxton has announced its second opening in Amsterdam, located in the city’s Eastern Docklands neighbourhood.

Breathing new life into a century-old building originally built by the Royal Dutch Lloyd Shipping Company, The Hoxton, Lloyd Amsterdam will honour the building’s heritage while embracing the laid-back spirit that defines its location.

Ennismore’s Aime Studios are at the helm of the 136-key hotel’s design, in partnership with local firm Nicemakers. Striking a balance between honouring the building’s Art Deco roots and embracing the youthful energy of the Eastern Docklands, a careful layered aesthetic combines original period features like striking stained-glass windows and intricate tiling with bold tones and playful, geometric patterns.

Guestroom interiors see a warm palette of corals, reds and ochres juxtaposed against cool blues and greys – a playful nod to Lloyd’s shipping connections. New concept guestrooms meanwhile include the top-floor Tower Room; the Tune Room, complete with grand piano; and the Gather Room, a wood-panelled suite ideal for celebrations.

Neighbouring gallery Bisou has installed the hotel’s all-Dutch artwork collection, while the Hox Gallery will be curated in partnership with local creative collective Stitching Kunstwerk Loods6. The hotel’s exterior is also a platform for artistic expression, with dedicated space for large-scale murals that will be created by some of the city’s leading street and graffiti artists.

A cosy, open-house lobby welcomes guests into the hotel, which also houses destination restaurant Breman Brasserie, standalone cocktail bar, Barbue, and a terrace.
