The Fife Arms reopens in Braemar
The Fife Arms, a former Victorian coaching house in the Scottish village of Braemar, has re-opened following a much-anticipated restoration. To mark the occasion, The Duke of Rothesay, accompanied by HRH The Duchess of Rothesay, have toured the new-look property.
Something of a landmark in Braemar, the hotel dates back to 1856 and under its new owners, Iwan and Manuela Wirth of international art gallery Hauser & Wirth, has been sensitively restored to revive the splendour of its former structure.
Interiors have been designed by Russell Sage – known for his work at The Goring and The Savoy – and bring together Scottish heritage, craftsmanship and contemporary art. Over 14,000 historic objects, artwork and artefacts have been collected over three years in order to tell some of the many stories associated with Braemar, while suites and guestrooms are individually designed and pay homage to a place, person or event with links to the area.
