The Beaumont in London

The Beaumont reveals further renovations

The Beaumont in Mayfair has revealed the culmination of its three-year programme of refurbishments under the creative direction of Thierry Despont and ReardonSmith Architects, adding two private dining rooms and 29 new guestooms and suites to its existing inventory of 72 rooms, as well as fresh interiors for The Roosevelt Suite.

Opening in late autumn for reservations from January 2024, the rooms will subtly enhance the hotel’s 1920s spirit, with Despont envisioning the hotel as a private club, brought into the present day through contemporary colour and lighting schemes, bespoke Art Deco-style furnishings, and artwork that inspires both nostalgia and innovation.

Located in an adjoining structure, the 29 new additions will be added to the recently renovated rooms within the main Brown Hart Gardens building, bringing warmer tones, richer fabrics by Pierre Frey and new art pieces by American, British and French artists. All the 20th century works within the guestrooms have been selected by Atelier Zuleika and not one room features the same.

The one-million-pound refurbishment of The Roosevelt Suite meanwhile is due for completion before the end of 2023. The new space, which encompasses the entire fifth floor and can extend to five bedrooms, will comprise rich caramel fabrics, antique bronze glass and Art Deco furniture, as well as an exclusive collection of art.

Named after former US President Franklin D Roosevelt, who was a famous supporter of the arts, the private apartment will be a celebration of art and artists, both historic and contemporary. As such, it will features work from the 1930s through to the current day, featuring American and British artists such as Henri Matisse (1869-1954); Alexander Calder (1878-1976); Robert Motherwell (1915-1991); Jason Watson (b.1946); Jeremy Annear (b.1949); Colin Reid (b.1953); Kate Boxer (b.1961); Anne Desmet (b.1964); Eleanor Lakelin (b.1967).
