Thanyapura World set for China debut
Thanyapura Health & Sports Resorts has revealed plans to expand internationally with the Singapore-based holding company, Thanyapura World, announcing its entry into the Chinese market with a new resort in Sanya, Hainan Province, China.
Sitting within approximately 58 hectares of land between Yalong and Haitang Bay, the hotel – designed by Dallas-based architecture firm HKS – will comprise 300 guestrooms and 250 villas. Thanyapura World adheres to a model that merges resort living with sports, lifestyle, and wellness elements. The property will include a medicine clinic, wellness centre, a members-only leisure club, multipurpose function rooms as well as F&B and retail outlets.
Thanyapura’s flagship in Phuket is billed as a leading sports, health and wellness destination, attracting established athletes from around the world. This new resort will mirror many of the same programmes offered in Phuket, including sports training facilities for swimming, running, tennis, cycling and soccer.
“We are on the cusp of something very big,” says Philip Graf von Hardenberg, President and CEO of Thanyapura World. “We offer something quite unique in the international hospitality market that others cannot easily replicate. China is a massive market with unlimited potential, and we are entering at the right time in the right location with the right partners.”
