InterContinental Chiang Mai Guestroom Interior

Summer launch for InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping

InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping, located in northern Thailand‘s Chiang Mai, will begin welcoming guests in the summer of 2023, upon the completion of renovations that have seen it transformed from Imperial Mae Ping Hotel into a brand-new property.

The renovation comes following the establishment of a strategic partnership between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Thai real-estate group Asset World Corporation (AWC). Meanwhile, re-design has been taken care of by PIA Interior Company, with an aim to bring Chiang Mai’s artistic heritage to life through vibrant and layered spaces.

When the first phase of renovation is complete, the 240-key nature-ensconced hotel will boast stately guestrooms with Lanna-inspired decor, showcasing traditional crafts such as lacquering and metal beating. Spacious bathrooms with a plunge bathtub and separate shower will compliment views of either the old city or the jungle-clad mountains.

Additionally, a restaurant serving Chinese cuisine, a rooftop bar, elegant lobby lounge and all-day-dining venue will provide spaces for guests to relax outside of their rooms, each designed to help guests discover authentic Thai culture and cuisine. Events space is also set to be plentiful at InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping, with a grand ballroom and secluded central lawn in the temple grounds on offer for large events. The manicured lawn is home to Wat Chang Kong, a 600-year-old stupa, and is envisioned as an important cultural and social hub within the property.
