St Regis Chicago Building Exterior

St Regis Hotels & Resorts takes Chicago

Marriott Bonvoy’s St Regis Hotels & Resorts has opened the doors of The St Regis Chicago, showcasing designs by Studio Gang. Developed by Magellan Development Group, the 101-storey tower is the tallest building in the world designed by a female architect, finding home in downtown Chicago.

Making its own mark on the city’s landscape, The St Regis Chicago’s design brings together an interconnected series of stacked, frustum-shapes that move rhythmically in and out, extending to various heights. The tower’s crystalline form was inspired by nature, with its green-blue glass gradient reflecting the colours of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.

The 192-key hotel showcases guestrooms courtesy of Gensler, brought to life through a palette of natural stone and wood finishes. Meanwhile, an array of the property’s public-facing spaces are courtesy of KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group, who also designed the Presidential Suite and the hotel’s spa. Throughout these spaces, metallic tones of copper and rust are interwoven with geometric, angular lines, offering a nod to both The Great Chicago Fire and the city’s geographic interconnectivity of waterways, buildings and green spaces.

“The debut of The St Regis Chicago signals a significant milestone for the St. Regis brand as we grow our footprint in the United States and celebrate our first property in the American Midwest,” said George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, St Regis Hotels & Resorts. “We are proud to open our doors in Chicago, an energetic and dynamic city that, like the St Regis brand, is known for its rich history and pioneering design. Through The St Regis Chicago we will debut a new icon within the city, sharing with our guests and local luminaries an architectural masterpiece that also represents the pinnacle of luxury hospitality today.”

Chicago-based restaurant group, Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants will debut two dining experiences at The St Regis Chicago. All-day dining venue Miru, residing on the 11th floor, will highlight Japanese small plates, sushi and sashimi on a menu curated by Chef Hisanobu Osaka. The venue’s interiors, courtesy of Rockwell Group, will be grounded in Chicago Modernism, offering both indoor and outdoor seating oriented towards the lakeside. Meanwhile, set to debut in autumn 2023 will be Tuscan steakhouse Tre Dita, serving up plates courtesy of Chef Evan Funke in a space designed by David Collins Studio.

As for further amenities across the property, The St Regis Spa will span across 21,000ft², offering restorative experiences on the hotel’s expansive Wellness Floor, while an outdoor sundeck, yoga studio and heated indoor pool will also be available to guests. For those less wellness and more business-minded, the hotel will boast more than 1,000ft² of event spaces, and the 4,721ft² Astor Ballroom will be available to host receptions for up to 500 guests.
