Soneva unveils new ‘floating villa’ resort
Sustainable resort operator Soneva has unveiled details of its new Soneva Secret, set to launch in January 2024.
Located in Haa Dhaalu, Soneva Secret features 14 beach and overwater villas, including lagoon Crusoe Villas, accessible only by boat, and the Castaway, described as the Maldives‘ first floating villa.
Each villa has been designed in harmony with its natural surroundings, with direct access to the beach and lagoon. As well as large master suites – complete with a sliding roof that facilitates views of the skies – all villas comprise adjoining bedrooms.
A dedicated Barefoot Guardian and Barefoot Assistant will be on hand at every villa, and the resort’s 14 private chefs – one for each villa – will craft bespoke menus and unique culinary journeys to be enjoyed in private or across the island.
Other dining experiences at the new Soneva resort will include Out of This World, a castaway dining tower, observatory and wine cellar in the lagoon, reachable by zipline; a toes-in-the-sand firepit dining experience at So Primitive; and The Living Room, a casual dining and lounge venue, which is also home to a library, boutique and Soneva’s renowned ice cream, chocolate and cheese and charcuterie rooms.
