Six Senses will debut its first property in Saudi Arabia in December 2023, with the opening of Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea.
Designed by Foster + Partners to pay homage to Nabataean heritage, the 76-key resort comprises a range of open-plan villas with outdoor terraces. The resort’s villas are arranged in two lines, crafted as such to take advantage of the surrounding dunes.
The heart of the resort is the Oasis. Inspired by a desert flower, the canopy is a self-shading structure that will host functions and activities. Additional amenities across the property include a spa, complete with swimming pools, outdoor treatment cabanas and a holistic anti-aging centre. The 3,974m² Six Senses Spa reflects the surrounding Saudi Arabian landscape, with soothing sandy tones throughout. Set over two floors, the upper floor houses a gym and fitness suite with views of the desert.
Five restaurants have been curated to draw on the Kingdom’s rich culinary culture, enhanced by fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
The new resort is the first LEED Platinum resort in Saudi Arabia – completely run with solar power, designed to maximise natural light and thus minimise energy requirements, and with smart filtration systems for enhanced indoor air quality. The hotel also has its own water plant to bottle still and sparkling water, and will run with a plastic-free policy.
