Sir Joan to launch in Ibiza in June

Sir hotels will open Sir Joan, its fifth hotel, this June in Ibiza, following the opening of Sir Adam in Amsterdam and Sir Nikolai in Hamburg earlier this year. Located in the centre of Ibiza, overlooking the port and the old town, the 38-key hotel draws on Ibiza’s ‘split personality’ as both an exclusive luxury destination and a party island. Designed by Baranowitz + Kronenberg, Sir Joan further pays homage to the maritime environment surrounding it and the island’s bohemian spirit.

On the ground floor, vertical corrugated steel bars line up along the interior walls, reminiscent of naval ropes. The outside area features a wraparound pool lined with cabanas and lounge chairs, whilst vertical green walls and minimalist water features provide a natural backdrop.

Amsterdam restaurant Izakaya, founded and owned by Yossi Eliyahoo and Liran Wizman of The Entourage Group, will take up much of the inside and outside public spaces, serving a combination of extravagant Japanese cuisine and Peruvian flavours. In addition, Sir Joan will also incorporate The Butcher, a high-end burger bar. Accessed via a separate entrance, it will open throughout the night, catering to the island’s late night party crowd.

Guestrooms feature stripped wooden yacht flooring and polished stainless steel wall panels, which, when hit by sunlight, visually emulate the movement of waves. Each guestroom features a balcony, while suites offer up to three balconies as well as an indoor living area.

Sir Joan further offers two penthouse suites on the top floor, each incorporating private balconies that encircle the room, punctuated by outdoor seating areas and a private cabana. These spaces seek to channel the luxury of being on a yacht, while the hotel stays true to the openness of Balearic identity.

“As with all Sir hotels, it is crucial they reflect our ethos of bringing locally inspired guest experiences to dynamic locations,” comments Liran Wizman, owner and founder of Sir Collection. “Sir Joan has the feel of a luxury private villa that also harks back to Ibiza’s nostalgic era where free-spirited communities created and influenced music and art on the island. This combination of revival with contemporary luxury has created the ideal urban oasis in the heart of the world-famous party island.”
