Sikelia Pantelleria announced

Sikelia Panterlleria, A 20-suite luxury retreat, has been announced on the Italian island of Pantelleria. Converted from an ancient dammuso, the island’s original stone habitats, the resort aims to attract travellers looking to reconnect with nature, and enjoy both the natural hot springs and distinctive volcanic landscape.

Sikelia Pantelleria has been created by Giulia Pazienza Gelmetti, owner of Pantelleria’s Coste Ghirlanda Estate, and is visually defined by its monastic African architecture. Katherina Pazienza Gelmetti and Francesco Alessandrelli have overseen the resort’s interior design, combining simple elegance with the area’s historical and cultural elements, whilst artist Gennaro Avalonne has provided paintings and decoration details to the resort that incorporate ideas from ancient pottery and glazed painted tiles in predominantly dark shades.

The resort will also feature Thema, a restaurant serving locally inspired and sourced food, a fitness centre, Arabic garden, and a natural springs spa set to open in 2017.

Giulia Pazienza Gelmetti comments: “For the last ten years, I have worked to create an artistic and emotional residence that reflects the wild beauty of Pantelleria using metal, glass and the highest quality fabrics. Each of the 20 suites has its own unique design and identity, which links the property’s architecture with refined contemporary elegance.”
