San Francisco welcomes first Curio Collection by Hilton

Timbri Hotel San Francisco has opened its doors as the latest addition to Curio Collection by Hilton, marking the brand’s debut in the city.

Located in the heart of the city’s Mid-Market neighborhood, the 12-storey, 236-room property blends modern design with nods to nature.

With conceptual design by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in collaboration with Handel Architects, the property’s Flatiron-inspired exterior offers a contemporary interpretation of the area’s historic architecture.

The interior design of Timbri Hotel San Francisco is centered around a concept of ‘Sanctuary in the City’, where the rhythm of San Francisco harmonises with the surrounding Bay Area’s natural beauty. Developed by San Francisco-based Group i in collaboration with New Ceremony, the reimagining draws on a deep connection to the city’s artistic and natural influences.

The hotel’s design philosophy sees a harmonious balance struck between lush greenery and sleek urban sophistication, for instance through a green-infused colour palette, as well as the property’s modern greenhouse-inspired architecture. Reimagined interiors have resulted in a verdant oasis, most evident in the transformed lobby, which features rich, grounding tones and fresh accents that celebrate local culture and the creative spirit.

“San Francisco has always embraced change, creativity and new ideas, even in challenging times,” says Joy Ou, President and CEO of Group i. “Timbri Hotel San Francisco celebrates the innovation, connection, exceptional dining, rich cultural experiences and the majesty of the Bay Area – it’s all part of the eclectic fabric that makes this place special. Timbri is designed to be a sanctuary for visitors from all walks of life, offering a starting point for discovery and a serene retreat amid their journey.”

The hotel is home to a rooftop bar and terrace, four distinct dining spaces and a fitness centre. An extensive art programme is on show throughout, featuring works by Bay Area artists and tastemakers including Sasinun Kladpetch and Iwamoto Scott, while a partnership with Root Division sees rotating pieces from local artists featuring in the coffee shop.
