Saltmoore to bring new luxury wellness offering to North Yorkshire
Luxury wellness-led retreat Saltmoore, formerly Raithwaite Sandsend, is set to open its doors in September 2024.
Positioned between the sea and the heather-clad North Yorkshire Moors, Saltmoore will comprise two brand new hotels with 72 bedrooms in total, a spa and four F&B outlets – including a gourmet restaurant, relaxed brasserie, and wellness café.
Saltmoore is the brainchild of construction and property development firms O’Shea Group and Galliard Homes, marking their 50th project together and their first hotel in Northern England.
The heart of Saltmoore can be found at Saltmoore House, a sophisticated and elegant 43-key hotel that overlooks pristine gardens and a fruit orchard. The historic hall takes notes from industrial mills and the Victorian era, weaving together rich tones and textures to create timeless, indulgent interiors inspired by the moors and the coastline. The hotel’s guestrooms are spacious in size, ranging from more cosy ‘Snug’ bedrooms to larger ‘Master’ suites.
Saltmoore’s interior vision has been realised by Sapin Studio. The design scheme features ocean-inspired palettes such as deep teal tiles for the bathrooms, as well as soft greens and pastels to create a calming and tranquil space for guests. Depending on the room category, rooms feature balconies, grand roll top baths, upholstered headboards, contemporary four poster beds and bespoke painted panelling throughout. Those looking for an indulgent stay can take refuge in The Nest Suite, a tranquil hideaway in the original 19th century hall. This suite sits suspended above the orchard, which can be appreciated from a window-side reading nook.
The Sanctuary at Saltmoore is the property’s spa, which will feature an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and relaxation room, as well as six treatment rooms, including one double treatment room for couples. Guests will also have access to the hotel’s modern gym, equipped with a cryotherapy chamber. The Wellness Café, overlooking the gardens, will provide a place to recharge and refuel with a selection of fresh smoothies, bone broth, seasonal salads and protein shakes.
Also located within the Saltmoore estate is The Beach House, a 29-room property, just a stone’s throw away from Saltmoore House. With access to all Saltmoore House’s facilities, The Beach House will have its own reception, bar and restaurant complete with a pizza oven. This coastal inspired property features guestrooms with views of the local woodland, and accommodation equipped with an outdoor tub and a private garden.
“We are excited to be working with such a pioneering brand to bring a new level of luxurious, yet laid-back accommodation to North Yorkshire,” say General Manager duo, Peter Boyle and Jayne Cartwright. “Saltmoore has provided over 150 jobs to the local community, and we look forward to working with our talented team to welcome guests to this beautiful part of the world.”
Paul Charles, CEO of The PC Agency, adds: “It is a privilege to be asked to work alongside such a talented team at Saltmoore. With inspiring and stylish design, excellent F&B expertise and a strong leadership team, we are thrilled to be launching Saltmoore as the UK’s most luxurious wellness-led sanctuary and cementing its reputation as a must-visit destination in Britain to travellers from all over the world.”
