Salt Hotels debuts in Nantucket’s Brant Point
Salt Hotels – a collection of boutique hotels with sites in Cape Cod, Miami and the Hudson Valley – has launched its latest addition in Nantucket. Situated in the heart of Brant Point, minutes from downtown and steps from the beach, the 17th-century, replica-style hotel comprises 18 rooms with locally inspired designs.
The property has opened as a pop-up hotel experience this summer, with a full launch set for summer 2023. Next year, the hotel will be debuting an exclusive members club along with additional guest rooms, a new central barn-style building, lobby, lounge and a swimming pool guests to enjoy during the warmer months.
Salt House Nantucket is inspired by the agrarian past of the Brant Point neighbourhood, which was once dotted with working farms. The post and beam structures that make up the hotel have been given a modern overhaul with bleached oak floors and a warm neutral colour palette, while glazed tiles line the renovated bathrooms and suites feature custom cabinetry, luxury kitchen appliances, and bespoke light fixtures.
“Salt House Nantucket will be a true celebration of summers on the Cape,” says David Bowd, CEO of Salt Hotels. “Since launching our first property in Provincetown, we have always considered New England as our home base, so we’re thrilled to continue planting our roots in this region with our latest hospitality offering.”
Beyond its guestrooms, Salt House Nantucket features ample gathering spaces including a lawn complete with games, fire pits surrounded by adirondack chairs, complimentary bikes available for exploring the island, and plenty of quiet corners to enjoy an inventive cocktail or tuck into a good book. The public areas feature the breakfast room and lounge, which spills out onto a dining deck and outdoor bar and lounge area.
Surprise events and activations will also be held throughout the summer in collaboration with like-minded and local partners – including Monkey 47 Gin’s bespoke cocktail hour served from their onsite Peruwagon, Nantucket-based Artist Meredith Hanson’s custom ACK map, and breakfast pastries from Pain D’Avignon.
Chief Creative Officer Kevin O’Shea adds: “Salt House Nantucket has a light and contemporary look, apt for a New England escape. We chose a sophisticated colour palette and design aesthetic that was quintessentially Nantucket.” Salt Hotels will continue its New England expansion next year with a property in Newport, Rhode Island. Its collection also includes Salt House Inn and Eben House in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
