Ruby Hotels to debut in Malta
Ruby Hotels has unveiled plans to open its first hotel in Malta, located in the heart of Valletta’s historic old town.
The project, developed in partnership with VBL Group, will open its doors in early 2026.
A conversion of three historic buildings on Strait Street – some dating back to the 16th century – the hotel will comprise 88 guestrooms, designed to offer immersion into the city’s heritage. VBL Group specialises in real estate development with a focus on Valletta. Over a period of several years, the company has breathed new life into the combination of historic townhouses. From intricate designs adorning historical façades and staircases, to the grandeur of the property’s courtyards, the buildings have been carefully preserved.
Vibrant public areas on the ground floor and a spacious rooftop terrace featuring a swimming pool and an all-day bar will be on offer, complete with views of the sea and the city’s skyline.
“All of these elements perfectly align with what our guests are seeking, addressing a previously unmet demand for affordable luxury accommodation,” says Catherine Hilt, Associate Director Development Southern Europe at Ruby. “Moreover, it presents a unique opportunity for local guests, boasting amenities such as a rooftop bar offering magnificent views, and even a pool.”
Andrei Imbroll, co-founder and CEO of VBL Group, also adds: “For the last decade the VBL Group has been putting together the pieces of the puzzle for what is meant to become the most iconic building and landmark in the historic Capital of Malta, Valletta. The last piece of the puzzle was finding a partner who shares our values. Ruby is a partner who deeply understands and respects the history and value of every piece of stone within this building while having a firm eye on what lies ahead in the international hospitality industry. We look forward to a mutually fruitful relationship for decades to come.”
