Rosewood outlines global expansion

Rosewood Hotel Group has announced a growth and development plans regarding four brands: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Penta Hotels, New World Hotels & Resorts and Khos, the group’s newest subsidiary.

The announcement was made on the heels of several global property announcements for the group’s flagship ultra-luxury brand, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, including Rosewood Half Moon Bay Antigua, Rosewood Vienna, Rosewood Munich, and Rosewood Hotel London in the former U.S. Embassy in London.

Global expansion began in 2014 with the opening of Rosewood London. Since then, Rosewood’s European growth has continued with the addition of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, its landmark property in Tuscany owned by fashion magnate Massimo Ferragamo, and Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, in Paris, which reopened in July 2017 following an extensive, four-year transformation.

“The Rosewood brand today is recognised as a global tastemaker amongst an elite group of consumers, attracting the right kind of attention from developers globally and creating a desire to innovate and reinvent,” says Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group.

Rosewood Luang Prabang, the collection’s first ultra-luxury tented encampment, will open this spring, featuring a design by Bill Bensley and 23 pavilions, suites and tented villas on hillside location. Rosewood Bermuda, meanwhile, will reopen this spring following an extensive USD25 million renovation that will touch every aspect of the resort. The renovation will include the complete redesign of the resort’s guestrooms, beach club, golf clubhouse and spa as well as enhanced meeting spaces and new food and beverage outlets.

Rosewood Baha Mar, set on Nassau’s Cable Beach, will open as a 233-key, five-villa property, and one of three major hotels forming the UDS4.2 billion resort complex of Baha Mar. Opening spring 2018, the Wimberly Interiors designed hotel will exude a British colonial vibe. Elsewhere, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ new flagship property in Asia, Rosewood Hong Kong, will be designed by Tony Chi and situated in the heart of Victoria Dockside, a new USD2.6 billion, 3 million-square-foot art and design district on the promenade of Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront.

Lastly, Rosewood Guangzhou will be set within the tallest completed building in Guangzhou’s central Tianhe District, adding to the portfolio’s existing presence in Asia and featuring 355 longer-term Rosewood Residences, the highest situated bar in all of mainland China, and a two-story Spa.

In addition to recent and upcoming property openings, Rosewood has also launched Asaya, a holistic wellness concept. Introduced at Rosewood Phuket in November 2017, Asaya will continue to be rolled out in both new and existing properties within the portfolio. In total, the expansion programme will add 50 hotels globally in the next five years, a 70% increase in a portfolio spanning across the four design-led brands.
