Rosewood Mexico City to open in 2024

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been appointed by Mexican real estate development firm Grupo Sordo Madaleno to operate Rosewood Mexico City, a new hotel expected to open in 2024 in the Polanco district.

Marking Rosewood’s fifth property in Mexico, the property has been designed by local architecture firm Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos and will occupy the grand tower of Antara’s newbuild expansion. Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Antara is a mixed-use development comprising offices, retail outlets, restaurants and entertainment venues. The luxury hotel will feature 133 rooms, 35 of which will be suites, and four F&B outlets including an all-day bistro, a poolside bar and grill, a living room and a specialty dining venue.

Intended for hotel guests and the local community alike, the development will also feature an outpost of Asaya, Rosewood’s forward-thinking wellness concept, which will be equipped with two swimming pools, a fitness and wellbeing centre, eight treatment rooms and hydrotherapy areas. Dedicated meeting and event spaces totalling 1,270m² will also cater to groups both large and intimate throughout the property.

Positioned in the heart of the capital, Rosewood Mexico City is within walking distance of luxury shopping district, Avenida Presidente Masaryk, as well as cultural institutions like Museo Soumaya and Museo Jumex.

“A thriving hub of art and culture, Mexico City reflects many of Rosewood’s defining pillars,” says the group’s CEO Sonia Cheng. “We are thrilled to introduce our A Sense of Place philosophy to visitors and locals with this opening, wherein the hotel will embody the distinct sensibilities of the destination all while presenting one-of-a-kind ambience and style combined with unparalleled quality and personalised service.”

Javier Sordo Madaleno, Vice President of Grupo Sordo Madaleno, adds: “As we embark on this new project in Mexico City, we could not think of a more suited partner than Rosewood. We look forward to showcasing the incomparable offerings of Mexico’s capital through the Rosewood lens and the debut of this hotel.”

Upon opening, Rosewood Mexico City will add to the group’s existing collection of hotels and resorts in Mexico, including Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos; Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya; Rosewood San Miguel de Allende; and Rosewood Mandarina, opening in 2023. The property will mark the brand’s 20th in The Americas and joins its largest growth pipeline to date, with 22 projects worldwide.
