Room Mate Anna opens
Room Mate Hotels has announced the opening of its fourth hotel in Barcelona, the 81-key Room Mate Anna located in the Quadrat d’Or.
With interiors designed by Lorenzo Castillo, who had previously worked with the brand on hotels in New York and Florence, Room Mate Anna channels traditional Catalonian influences with a visual scheme that reflects the Mediterranean roots of Barcelona.
The flagship hotel offers 81 guestrooms in four categories: basic, standard, deluxe, and junior suites, with notable features including a terrace and a circular rooftop pool with views of local landmarks such as the Agbar Tower and Gaudi’s Casa Batlló. Interiors are defined by their use of bold colours, combining the turquoises and aquamarines of Palamós and the earthy and green tones of Empordà’s cypress trees.
Within the guestrooms, the Mediterranean Sea is the central theme, as seen by the use of bright red Trapani coral and giant shells. Elsewhere, the wardrobe doors and headboards are fashioned from Venetian blinds and slatted shutters, and complemented by white fabrics with accents of red, blue, black and green. Traditionally crafted bespoke furniture in wooden and wax finishes can be found throughout the hotel with updated modern designs. The central themes of colour and brightness are further highlighted with the addition of metals including brass, and wall lamps and large skylights in the dining room.
Kike Sarasola, President and Founder of Room Mate Hotels comments: “Barcelona represents one of our key business areas and the city is a global tourism destination, which is why we are firmly committed to opening two further hotels by 2017.”
Room Mate plans to add to its Barcelona portfolio with the opening of Room Mate Gerard and Room Mate Xavi in 2017, plus eight more hotels in cities including Rotterdam, Florence, Rome, Paris and Madrid.
