Rezidor adds to UK portfolio announcing two hotels in Brighton

“These signings underline the importance of the UK market for our company”, comments Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “Brighton is one the country’s favourite destinations; we are glad to be present there.”

A local landmark, the future Radisson Blu Hotel, Brighton is today known as the Royal York Hotel. One of the city’s most historical hotels, it was built in 1771 as private homes and converted into a hotel in 1819. It was subsequently used as offices from 1929 to 2003, when it was purchased by the current owners. In 2007, the property underwent a complete renovation and regained its status as one of the city’s best hotels.

The hotel offers a total of 59 guestrooms including eight apartments, and Max’s Sea Grill serving locally caught seafood.

The Park Inn Brighton is currently in operation as Lansdowne Place. The hotel opened in 1854 and is a great example of a hotel offering the best of old-world English charm combined with the conveniences of a modern hotel. The property was fully renovated in 2004.

The hotel offers 84 guestrooms, seven meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 200 for a reception, and The Grill restaurant serving traditional French cuisine. The hotel is also home to a spa with eight treatment rooms, a sauna and a steam room, a relaxation room, and a gym.

During the re-branding process, the two hotels will undergo changes to ensure they sit well within the brands, including new signage, new uniforms for all front of house staff, the introduction of ‘responsible business’ implementations, and the re-training of all staff, which will include ‘Yes I Can!’ training, to ensure the well-recognised service culture.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Brighton will be the 13th Radisson Blu hotel in the UK, with two further newbuild hotels due to open this year in Bristol and Cardiff. The existing Radisson SAS properties will be re-branded as Radisson Blu later in the year.
