Puro Hotels launches new property in Łódź
Polish group Puro has expanded its portfolio with a 137-key hotel in Łódź, a post-industrial city where the country’s first cinema was born alongside a booming textile industry. Nestled between the Neo-baroque Poznański Palace and the renovated redbrick factory complex Manufak-tura, Puro Łódź is housed in a modern hybrid building designed by ASW Architects. The hotel pays homage to film through an on-site cinema, while artworks by local creatives draw upon Łódź’s avant-garde past.
Conceptualised by London-based practice SuperFutures, the refined interiors fuse industrial heritage with contemporary culture, with furnishings from the likes of Verpan, Fredericia and Kettal accompanying pieces from Carl Hansen & Søn, Gubi, Muuto, Fogia, Moroso and Magis, as well as handtufted rugs by Kasthall.
Artwork can also be found throughout the hotel and comes in the form of photography, retro film posters and contemporary paintings. A bold cinematic mural by graphic designers Illcat and Maciej Polak welcomes guests from the second floor staircase, while contemporary kilims and handwoven wall hangings by Łódź-based studio Tartaruga adorn the suites, and illustrations in the guestrooms by Ola Niepsuj and Bartosz Kosowski draw inspiration from the city’s famous avant-garde artists, Katarzyna Kobro and Władysław Strzemiński.
On the menu are two dining venues and a rooftop bar: Biotiful Healthy Snack Lab and Miska Gastro Bowls. The former serves a range of wholesome breakfasts, juices and brews in a calm café space, while Miska offers bowls of organic ingredients blended with a touch of Thai taste, and Spirit Bar affords generous views of the historic Poznański Palace. Elsewhere, the Prisma Spa offers a selection of rejuvenating treatments, while the top-floor fitness suite and yoga classes complete the wellness offer.
