Park Hyatt to debut in St. Kitts

Hyatt has announced the opening of St. Kitts’ first luxury beach resort, and the first Park Hyatt hotel in the Caribbean region – Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour – scheduled to open in autumn 2017.

The 126-guestroom resort will span the secluded beach of Banana Bay at the foot of the island’s rolling hills, and combines programmes of design, art, culinary experiences and immersive excursions. Home to three signature restaurants, a destination resort spa and wellness centre, and indoor and outdoor event spaces, the resort will introduce the Park Hyatt experience to the Caribbean.

All 78 guestrooms and 48 suites arch and face the beach of Banana Bay. Sustainably designed with local materials and water features throughout, Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour will reflect the island’s heritage and culture, and intertwine contemporary architecture and colonial design.

The décor of each guestroom will emphasise views of the Caribbean Sea and resort grounds, with design touches including private balconies and terraces, local artwork, rain-showers and deep soaking tubs. Premium suites will feature private rooftop swimming pools and sundecks, whilst the three-bedroom Presidential Villa will be equipped with a private infinity pool, wellness area, personal butler and private chef.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of this much anticipated resort,” says Julian Moore, General Manager of Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour. “The resort will combine the unique Park Hyatt experience whilst embracing the culture, history and people that define the Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis, a relatively untouched Caribbean island.”

The is set to showcase local and international cuisine through three distinct dining experiences. The Great House, reflective of a grand colonial home, will offer all-day dining; Flemings, the main resort bar; Tots, a specialty rum bar featuring a selection of local Caribbean rums; herb garden; chef’s table; and a conservatory serving afternoon tea.

The Fisherman’s Village will serve up ocean-to-table lunch and dinner perched on the water, with its design reflective of the huts and berths that once lined the St. Kitts coastline. The Stone Barn, meanwhile, will provide an adult-only intimate dining experience with ‘food from the hearth’ and an extensive wine list. Lastly, Fane’s beachside bar will offer a selection of non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails.

Part of the hotel’s wellness programme, The Sugar Mill Spa & Sanctuary will be home to nine treatment rooms, Watsu therapy, and a 1,750ft², 24-hour fitness club. Treatments will incorporate local herbs, and the shadow of the resort’s Sugar Mill provides a setting for yoga and meditation.

Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour has further developed a series of ‘Journeys’ which will introduce guests to the history, culture and people of the Federation, which, until 2005, still had sugar production as its dominant industry. True to the brand’s commitment to bring rare and intimate experiences to travellers, each itinerary will feature local activities, from walks with an island historian and rainforest excursions, to visiting a UNESCO fortress ingrained in Caribbean history.

Events on St. Kitts were traditionally held in private homes, and the resort has returned to these origins with The Reception Hall, featuring five private event spaces, an outdoor terrace and two event lawns.
