Investment firm Westfort Capital is set to launch new Oku hotels in Kos and Ibiza this Spring, having purchased two Casa Cook properties following the collapse of the Thomas Cook brand in 2019.

After being given a new lease of life, the resorts will look to shake up the hospitality scene in the Mediterranean, offering a soulful experience and adding to the owners’ expansion plans in the region.

Derived from the Japanese spiritual and architectural concept meaning “inner space”, the ethos of the brand is to provide relaxing sanctuaries in destinations that captivate, with wellbeing practices that revive, and dining and music experiences that awaken the senses. The aim is to balance comfort with first class service, fresh local produce and spa treatments inspired by ancient traditions and the use of natural products.

Dining at Oku Restaurant and To Kima will be overseen by Executive Chef Mark Vaessen, formerly of Sushisamba, while guests can also make use of a juice bar. After using the spa or fitness studio, they can relax by one of two pools too – including the largest on the island – or at a semi-private pool if they are staying in one of six swim-up rooms.
