Moxy makes debut in Spain
Moxy Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio, has made its debut in Spain, opening in Barcelona’s Sants neighbourhood.
The design of Moxy Barcelona is inspired by the city’s vibrant atmosphere, seamlessly incorporating elements reminiscent of creatives such as surrealist painters Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró and modernist architect Antoni Gaudí. Interiors blend traditional Catalan trencadís ceramic mosaics with Moxy’s industrial chic design, creating a colourful, contemporary environment that draws on its locale.
Upon entry is Bar Moxy, the centre of activity in the hotel. Adjacent to the venue is the Welcome Zone and Moxy Lounge, a social hub adorned with illuminated signs and local map illustrations, while nearby is a stylish coworking space.
The crowning jewel of Moxy Barcelona will be its rooftop space on the tenth floor, complete with a pool and sweeping views of the city. The adjacent rooftop restaurant and bar, slated to open in early 2025, is the vision of Barcelona-born hospitality collective Grup Confitería. The group is set to introduce three experiences to the rooftop: a Mediterranean restaurant, a chic cocktail bar and a chill-out area inspired by vibrant New Memphis style.
The property comprises 414 guestrooms, each with a private balcony, as well as smart features like motion-activated LED lights and peg walls that allow guests to adapt the room to their needs. Every guestroom features a mural by local artist Sira Lobo, depicting a different Barcelona neighbourhood.
