Motel One redesigns One Lounge

Motel One has announced the update and redesign of the unique One Lounge, a feature in all of their hotels.

One Lounge provides a space for relaxation and contemplation, with comfortable chairs, stylish décor and a sense of identity with the local area. Two of the four hotels located in Hamburg – Motel One Hamburg-Alster and Motel One Hamburg-Airport – have been updated in a new Hanseatic design.

The theme for the new design at the Hamburg-Alster property is based upon the typical Hanseatic sport of sailing on the Alster lake. In the reception area guests are greeted with golden lettering spelling out Alster, accompanied by imagery of skating on the lake, a popular winter pastime.

This sporty and aquatic theme is echoed throughout the One Lounge with wooden wavy slats representing the river’s flowing water, complemented by black and white graphics depicting sailing adventures. Small nods towards the theme can be seen in carefully chosen decorations including boat lights, skates, swans and paper ships.

At Hamburg-Airport, the design focuses on aviation and the aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal. In the One Lounge the theme is evident in every detail from wooden propellers to high-quality aluminium model aeroplanes and historical photographs.

The redesign also showcases carpets from designer Jan Kath in cloud optics, smoothly tying in the fascination with flying. The space is illuminated by 50 chrome, brass, and copper lights, designed by Tom Dixon, while Velvet covered Fritz Hansen chairs invite guests to sit-back and relax.

Munich based Motel One currently operates over 50 hotels, with plans for 25 additional sites across Europe.
