Montcalm opens Royal London House
The Montcalm Luxury Hotels has announced the opening of The Montcalm Royal London House, a 253-key hotel located in Finsbury Square. Situated in close proximity to Liverpool Street station, the hotel sees a mid-century office building transformed into a stylish five-star property with striking views of the city skyline.
The project has been overseen by SGP Contracts, with interior and exterior design handled by Russell Sage, Tonik Associates, and 5Plus. The development features statement copper pipe lighting and exposed brick walls mixed with silk lined corridors, turquoise leather stools and the building’s original reclaimed parquet flooring.
Guestrooms, which include 18 junior suites, 14 master suites, nine studio suites, five business suites and two palm suites with private balconies, each blend comfort with bespoke design, and all incorporate state-of-the-art technology. Luxury details include a pre-order pillow menu, in-room Nespresso machine and an choice of guestroom aromas, as well as Elemis and Hermès toiletries and a private butler service on request.
Dining facilities include Burdock, which features a juice bar, lounge area and restaurant, and rooftop bar and restaurant Aviary, which will offer uninterrupted views of the capital. Restaurateurs Tom and Ed Martin of ETM Group head up the hotel’s two restaurants, two bars and room service operations.
As well as offering complimentary high speed WiFi, the hotel will be the first in the UK to offer 10GB bandwidth capacity on demand, alongside iPod docking stations, 55” TVs and a smartphone device giving guests unlimited 3G internet data and free local and international calls.
The hotel’s meeting and event spaces offer versatile areas for up to 300 guests, while all private rooms boast natural daylight from the building’s striking light wells. An urban spa is also due to launch in November, featuring Versace wall tiles, a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, two treatment rooms, a sauna and steam room.
Two Palm Suites with private balconies and a host of bespoke touches will also open in November, together with three private meeting rooms featuring a terrace overlooking the City skyline.
