Greek private equity firm Metaxa Hospitality Group has introduced Santo Collection, a new series of luxury properties in Santorini.

The collection includes existing resort Santo Pure, originally named Santo Maris, which will see the addition of 20 new suites; Santo Mine, a new 37-suite development; and The Villas by Santo Collection, two new independent four-bedroom villas that can be combined to create an eight-bedroom villa sleeping 16 guests.

Carved into the cliffs of Oia, on the site of an old stone mine above Ammoudi Bay, Santo Mine comprises 37 individual suites with a private pool or jacuzzi. The suites take inspiration from Santorini’s rugged landscape, calming earth tones, Mediterranean aesthetics and Cycladic minimalism, with interiors offering a cocoon-like atmosphere of Mediterranean simplicity through the use of warm and cream colour tones as well as natural materials from local suppliers like stone, ceramics, wood, marble and copper in their purest form. The design also includes planted roofs and carefully selected lighting to reduce the resort’s environmental impact. Other facilities include a new restaurant and all-day bar, a wine cellar serving local and international wines, a spa and an outdoor gym.

Located in the western part of Oia, The Villas by Santo Collection are nestled in a secluded setting overlooking the Aegean Sea. The four-bedroom villas are interconnected and can be combined to create an eight-bedroom venue accommodating up to 16 guests. Both embrace an outdoor living concept with outdoor and indoor kitchens and BBQ areas, indoor and outdoor jacuzzi and outdoor swimming pools. There’s also fitness rooms, saunas, a butler’s room, large verandas, outdoor seating areas and up to 389m² landscaped gardens in an elevated position on a cliff, affording views of the neighbouring Greek islands and Santorini’s sunsets. Guests of the villas have access to their own personal concierge service to organise private chefs, spa services and exclusive excursions such as private yacht and helicopter tours.

The newly rebranded Santo Pure Oia Suites & Villas, previously Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa, will re-open for the 2023 season with the addition of 20 new suites – extending the resort’s existing offer to 83 suites and two villas. Situated a five-minute walk from Oia’s caldera, Santo Pure is separated into six neighbourhoods with Mediterranean gardens centred around six pools. The resort resembles a typical Santorinian village, combining traditional Cycladic architecture with contemporary black lava and white soothing tones. Its spa will continue to operate as usual, while a fine-dining experience, all-day dining and poolside bar will be underpinned by a sustainable farm-to-table ethos, with the aim of becoming zero-waste to landfill by using herbs, fruits, vegetables and nuts grown in Santo Pure’s organic gardens.
