Meliá Hotels expands in Yangon

Meliá Hotels International has announced the opening of Meliá Yangon, the first hotel operated by the company in Myanmar.

The hotel is located on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road; a 15-minute drive to both the city centre and Yangon International Airport, or a 10-minute drive to the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda. The Yangon’s largest and latest shopping mall, Myanmar Plaza, is directly connected to the hotel.

Yangon remains the biggest commercial centre and main transit hub of the country, as well as home to historical colonial buildings. This project marks the company’s strategic expansion in the Asia Pacific region

Overlooking the scenic spot of Inya Lake, the hotel provides 430 spacious guestrooms. Guests on The Level, Meliá Hotels & Resorts signature executive floor, enjoy a personalised service with privileges such as exclusive access to The Level Lounge with stunning 360 degrees views of the city and Inya Lake.

The property also provides three high-end restaurants: The Market, an all-day dining restaurant in an open market setting, offers local delicacies, Asian favourites and western classics; The Lantern reinterprets classics to reflect modern fine dining for the eclectic palate, where an art deco touch meets Vietnamese ambience; and Olea restaurant supplies a taste of the Mediterranean, featuring pure European cuisine with an exotic twist. Further, Garbo Bar is due to open at the end of the year, complete with Hollywood-inspired design.

The hotel also features more than 2,000m2 of convention space including ballrooms and function rooms of various sizes equipped with the latest technology for any type of event.

Meliá Yangon will also include an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and a soon-to-open 1,800m2 world class YHI spa.
