Meliá announces Gran Meliá de Mar
Meliá Hotels International is set to launch Gran Meliá de Mar on Palma de Mallorca’s extensive coastline in April 2016.
Following an extensive renovation, the hotel has been upgraded to become the brand’s flagship couples-only resort.
Located a 10 minute drive away from the centre of Palma and 20 minutes away from Palma airport, the resort is within close proximity to Michelin star restaurants, bars, and the shopping district of Puerto Portals Marina.
The hotel includes 142 guestrooms featuring balconies with spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as luxurious amenities including a Nespresso machine, mini-bar and premium bathroom products. RedLevel guests will have exclusive access to the RedLevel Lounge and enjoy benefits such as valet parking, a premium Bali bed and complimentary access to the wellness circuit of the Spa by Clarins.
With six conference rooms, Gran Meliá de Mar will be perfectly equipped to host small business gatherings and large scale functions. It offers 449m² of flexible meeting space with modern technologies and capacity for between 12 and 220 people.
The Spa by Clarins at Gran Meliá de Mar will feature several treatment rooms offering exclusive Clarins experiences such as massages, facials and physical programmes; the hotel will also provide a 24-hour gym with high-tech equipment.
The hotel’s new lobby bar and lounge, Amaro, will be inspired by 50s glamour. Guests can enjoy a range of Mediterranean cuisine, including traditional Spanish tapas and pastries served throughout the day. In the evenings, Amaro will provide an extensive cocktail list created by mixologists with live music.
Bardot, Gran Meliá de Mar’s poolside bar and restaurant, will be open throughout the day, with views overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Cocktails at Bardot will be classically crafted and served with innovative sharing plates, such as fresh fish and seafood. In the evening, Arrels by award-winning chef Marga Coll showcases the best of Majorcan cuisine with a contemporary feel, including a daily five or seven course tasting menu.
Gabriel Escarrer, Vice Chairman and CEO at Meliá Hotels International, comments: “Mallorca is where Meliá Hotels International was born and is a very important European destination for the luxury traveller. The stunning natural beauty and historical significance of the area is the perfect example of Balearic beauty. It was important to us to continue to raise the profile of our beautiful island and provide the best service in the area. We are very excited to launch this bespoke property in such a significant location.”
