ME Cabo reopens after $16m renovation
ME Cabo has reopened following an extensive $16m renovation that has seen all of the hotel’s guestrooms, suites and public spaces redesigned. Architects, Patricia Rios and Leonardo Díaz Borioli, worked alongside renowned interior designer Alejandra Contreras to transform the property.
The resort features 162 guestrooms, including 62 ME+ Suites, which combine Mexican culture and design with modern resort amenities to create a luxurious beachfront experience. The new design offers exclusive custom-designed furniture and décor pieces handcrafted by Mexican masons, carpenters and craftsmen, and new custom-designed wallpaper.
The Lobby and Rose Bar are decorated with brightly coloured fabrics, while contrasting shades of grey and white provide an elegant and soothing vibe in the guestrooms, as well as a re-tiled pool deck and new beach club.
ME Cabo’s culturally traditional artwork was curated to complement the modern re-design of the hotel. The property showcases unique paintings and sculptures by celebrated Mexican artist Yuri Zatarain, which are displayed in guestrooms and public spaces, as well as contemporary images by Portland-based photographer Kineo.
Alvaro Tejeda, Regional Vice President of The Americas at Meliá Hotels International commented: “The unveiling of ME Cabo’s highly anticipated property renovations is a thrilling time for our brand and this property. Guests will be welcomed by a new level of luxury and entertainment that is sure to facilitate memorable ME experiences for even the most discerning travellers.”
Following the renovations, ME Cabo has launched TullPu, a new authentic Peruvian restaurant concept, which serves Pisco cocktails. The hotel’s destination bar, Rose Bar, now features international DJ headliners and located upstairs there is a new members-only Sub Rosa lounge.
Launching this Autumn, the resort has partnered with celebrated international lifestyle brand Blue Marlin Ibiza. The new beach club concept will serve lunch, dinner and cocktails by day, and music from cutting-edge DJs in an avant-garde atmosphere by night.
Meanwhile, the YHI Spa will include new relaxing experiences, focusing on holistic wellness with Ayurveda treatments, dry saunas and hydro-massage. Unique services include the Temazcal, a therapeutic sweat lodge and therapies that incorporate traditional Mexican ingredients like pitaya (dragon fruit), which are derived from ancient Mayan and Aztec rituals of the surrounding region. A fitness centre with all the latest high-tech equipment is also located near the spa.
ME+ features lavish suites, such as Passion and Personality Suites, as well as the brand-standard penthouse Suite ME, with floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular ocean views. Suite ME, the resort’s equivalent a Presidential Suite, has been fitted with a miniature production booth for celebrity DJs and guests to host private parties. Further, the brand’s signature Personality Suites are spacious, with superb sound capabilities that provide an unforgettable experience. ME+ guests also receive exclusive access to select lounges and services.
Guests looking for meetings and events spaces to host special occasions or incentive trips will find a bevy of high-tech options to choose from. With a total capacity of 2,500 guests for special events, VIP meeting rooms and poolside and oceanfront options are available upon request, as well as a personal meeting concierge.
