Marriott’s Luxury Collection debuts in Germany

The Luxury Collection, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of hotel brands, has debuted in Germany with the opening of Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich.

Situated in the heart of Munich’s Stachus Square, the property has been designed by Nieto Sobejano Architects and Landau + Kindelbacher to embody the city’s rich culture and honour the historic building’s heritage.

A spacious atrium welcomes guest into the building, and introduces the hotel’s design concept of ‘Stachus Serenity’. Through the implementation of louvered structures and large gold walls, the entryway opens up towards Stachus Square, establishing a connection between interior and exterior.

The hotel comprises 106 guestrooms and suites, featuring dark wood-paneled walls, neutral-toned fabrics and views of the city through floor-to-ceiling windows. Art is a key element of the design scheme – reflecting the history of the House of Wittelsbach, the former Bavarian ruling family, who were enthusiastic art collectors in the 16th century. Guestrooms feature touches of local charm, including welcome cards illustrated by Munich designer Alexandra von Frankenberg, a custom Koenigshof fragrance and a bespoke ‘Munich Serenity’ tea made in collaboration with Samova Tea.

Koenigshof is home to three dining destinations, including signature Latin American restaurant Greta Oto Munich, located on the ninth floor, accompanied by an adjacent bar and rooftop terrace. Other venues include The Green, a serene lounge serving local delicacies, as well as a tranquil, residential-style space on the third floor with a curated selection of books and artwork that showcase Munich’s unique character.
